Sharp Corp plans to invest roughly 15 billion Yen to boost its liquid crystal display (LCD) panel output capacity at the Kameyama No. 1 plant in Mie Prefecture by about 20 percent around spring 2006, the Nihon Keizai Shimbun reported Thursday.
The plan was inspired by the strong sales of 32- and 37-inch LCD televisions in the current year-end sales season, the report said, adding that Sharp hopes to increase the capacity in time to step up production for the summer bonus season.
