Digitrex by ED Digital to integrate Windows Media Connect technology into a high-definition LCD TV
Published December 31st, 2005 in ED Digital
A new company was introduced on the CES 2005 in the home electronics market; ED Digital. They teamed up with Microsoft Corp. to include Windows Media Connect support in the new Digitrex High-Definition Network LCD TVs. The only information I could find so far on the company was through the eHomeUpgrade page. I was unable to trace the company’s website. So I wonder what happened to ED Digital and if they are back at CES 2006? Any suggestions?
With native support of Windows Media Connect you will be able to view and listen to digital content stored on your Windows XP-based PC, through the Digitrex TV. Windows Media Connect support will also allow Digitrex TVs to be compatible with digital media capabilities in the forthcoming Windows Vista operating system from Microsoft. A user-friendly interface makes navigating networked content easy. Another brand who has incorporated this is Pioneer.
“We’re working to make the connected home a reality for all,” Steve Jean, vice president of marketing and product development, ED Digital, said. “Microsoft’s trusted Windows Media Connect technology gives our HD network TV an edge. The Digitrex High-Definition Network LCD TV seamlessly turns a Windows XP-based PC into a media server and digital entertainment portal, bringing a whole new source of exciting content right into the family room.”
ED Digital is a supplier of consumer electronics and home theater products that allow people to enjoy state-of-the-art entertainment systems and finally realize the promise of the “connected home.” The company’s broad-based product line is sold under the Digitrex brand and includes LCD TVs, rack and portable DVD players, personal media players, set-top boxes and the world’s first HD Network LCD TVs with Microsoft Windows Media Connect technology.
