Now at the CES2006 in Las Vegas, Samsung Electronics, unveils a new television that will soon hit the market. The 82” LCD TV with an LED backlight, the first of it’s kind.
The 82″ LCD TV with LED backlight (model LN-S8297DE) enlarges the color reproduction area by more than 33 percent compared to conventional LCD TVs. Dynamic Contrast technology, Samsung’s proprietary contrast enhancement technology, allows for a high contrast ratio of 7000:1.
Samsung showed the 82″ model in ealier shows like the IMID in Seoul and Cebit in Germany:
Samsung Electronics announced that it will showcase its largest line-up of leading-edge information display technology ever exhibited in Asia - during the IMID (International Meeting on Information Display) 2005, an international information display conference and exhibition held in Seoul from July 19 to 23.
Sang Wan Lee, president of Samsung Electronics’ LCD Business, stated, “IMID is truly a global stage for the latest in display technology and Samsung is proud to introduce our most advanced technologies at this event.”
He adds, “Samsung’s line-up includes the world’s largest 82” TFT LCD, a 40” OLED using an a-Si backplane, and new LED backlight and mobile display technologies.82” LCD TV Panel: The largest LCD ever developed, the 82” LCD was produced at the company’s newest and the world’s largest TFT-LCD production line, the 7th Generation (1,870mm×2,200mm glass substrates) line located in Tangjeong. It features an unparalleled viewing angle of 180˚ and boasts a color saturation of 92% and video quality response speeds of 8ms or less.
Samsung Electronics will unveil its 82-inch TFT-LCD at CeBIT 2005, which opens in Hannover, Germany on March 10.
Samsung is set to begin operations at the world’s first 7th-generation TFT-LCD production line at Tangjeong, Korea. This facility can be used to produce the company’s full line-up of LCD modules for TV: from 23-inch (24 per substrate), 26-inch (18 per substrate) and 32-inch (12 per substrate) to 40-inch (8 per substrate) and 46-inch (6 per substrate).
Samsung Electronics is at least one year ahead of the competition in terms of using 7th-generation production technology to make modules of 40 inches, 46 inches and 57 inches. It is therefore in a position to take an early lead in the fast-growing market for large-screen, wall-hanging TVs.
Let’s see if they really are a year ahead in this market. At least they have displayed themselves multiple times this year with this new LCD TV
