LCDs, are thin and lightweight. Previously plasma was considered the superior technology, but advances in LCD have brought the two closer together. Plasma technology, while providing rapid refresh rates and great contrast ratios requires more power to run and may be prone to image burn in when a static image is present on the screen for extended periods of time. They can also have problems in higher altitudes and have a lower life span than their LCD counterparts.
