Samsung is targeting a market share of around 50 per cent in the fast growing flat panel market in India.

Samsung India has introduced its new, advanced LCD range in the country that coincides with the worldwide launch. The company has launched six new LCD models in the screen sizes between 20” to 46”, taking its total LCD range offering to nine models. Based on their features, these models are classified into M, R, T and S series of LCD TVs.

With this launch, Samsung now offers the largest range of LCD TVs in India. Number one in flat TVs, with a market share of 20.8 per cent in 2004, and growing to approximately 22.5 per cent in 2005. Flat TV market is merely 10 per cent and there is a tremendous growth potential in this segment. Samsung sees flat panel TVs as a major growth driver in the country.

Samsung’s new LCD range comes equipped with Samsung patented DNIe (Digital Natural Image Engine) technology. These LCD TVs ensure 5000:1 Dynamic Contrast ratio and use advanced ‘10 Bit Signal’ processing and 6.4 billion colours. Further, an 8 millisecond response time ensures that images are precisely captured and quickly displayed.

The HDMI feature in the Samsung LCD TVs allows for 100 per cent transmission of both visual and audio digital signals, allowing for perfect image and sound reproduction when connecting to a PC, STB, DVD.

The dual Directionalised Acoustic Chamber system (DACs) in the Samsung LCD TV range overcomes the acoustic limitations of traditional speakers by projecting sound evenly throughout the room. It maximises low range sound performance and enhances sound clarity, achieving high quality sound reproduction. With a 170 degree panel view angle, these LCD TVs ensure ease and comfort.

Samsung is also planning to expand the concept of Samsung AV stores in the country. Samsung has an AV Store in Kolkata that was set up last year and is dedicated to selling Audio Video products of the company.
